According to some latest speculations from the offshore outsourcing world, software outsourcing is actually pushing up the demand for IT professionals globally, even in developed economies that outsource their software work. This is contrary to the popular belief that software outsourcing is resulting in job shortage for technical professionals in developed countries.
It seems that growing economies worldwide are creating much opportunities in software development sector. It is also said that outsourcing rates for software development is rising globally, reducing cost-advantage that companies look for while outsourcing. This is supposed to be forcing many companies to stay in-house for most of the development work.
The craze for offshore outsourcing was started after Y2K boom. Then, a lot of tech professionals had lost their jobs due to large-scale software outsourcing. It is thought that cyclic recovery from this trend is creating a lot of opportunities as employers and companies move quickly to fill in-house job slots.
From the time the outsourcing trend started it was assumed widely that high tech jobs are being shipped off to offshore locations, resulting in high rate of job loss among technical professional. But now the trend is changing rapidly and constantly. Now, IT Companies are hiring IT professionals yet again. As most of them are maintaining their core business processes in-house. Though the offshore outsourcing is still on the rise as more and more companies think it wise to ship non-core development work to offshore locations.
Software Outsourcing
Today, almost all sectors whether financial, Industrial, IT, Banking, Insurance, medical or telecommunications, a lot of processes are outsourced to far-off locations. However the talent shortage due to huge rise in demand has been pushing up wages in offshore locations. And this reduces the profit margins of the outsourcing companies, which is a reason why some companies prefer not to outsource. However after the initial stages of volatile activities, the outsourcing market is gradually maturing and proving beneficial to both the outsourcer and vendor, if handled wisely.
If we consider the Information Technology Industry, it has seen lots of trends since the Y2K boom. After the incident of dot.com and Y2K there was a heavy boom for Software Outsourcing and Development to the countries like India and China. Both the countries are very much demanded globally for their talents and skills in the field of Information Technology Industry. Now other countries such as Philippines, Russia etc. have also started Offshore Outsourcing services.
