Quality Management - with a focus on CMM Level 5

A commitment to quality underpins all of Bleum's offshore outsourcing services and our approach to client management. Savvy organizations understand the service levels that CMM level 5 companies provide but at Bleum, we aim to exceed our customer's expectations every time when it comes to quality.

To further enhance our quality service offer, we have developed our own proprietary quality process called Pearl®. It is a lightweight offshore development process which focuses the Bleum team on thinking through the challenges completely and then developing and implementing correctly the first time.

  • Bleum's Pearl® process is synthesized from three sources:
  • Capability Maturity Model (CMM Level 5)
  • Project Management Institute (PMI)
  • Rational's Unified Process (RUP)

Pearl also incorporates valuable best practices from Extreme Programming and Agile Process.

We have taken these disparate processes and created a coherent and tailorable framework that enables Bleum developers to execute projects smoothly and efficiently.

In addition to using Pearl®, we adhere to the Capability Maturity Model (CMM Level 5). We were one of the first company's in China to achieve this level of certification, and the only software outsourcing company to be both SEI CMM level 5 and ISO 27001 compliant. To our clients, this means highly transparent projects that are completed on schedule with extremely low defect rates.

What is CMM?

CMM is an internationally recognized standard for measuring the maturity of an organization's software development processes and has become the primary benchmark multinational corporations use to judge offshore service providers' abilities to deliver high quality software. Bleum is now one of only a few companies in China to be assessed SEI CMM Level 5.

The Capability Maturity Model (CMM) was developed under the guidance of the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) of Carnegie Mellon University in the U.S. (www.sei.cmu.org). It is organized into five maturity levels with SEI CMM Level 5 being the highest. By operating at this high a CMM level, customers' benefit from Bleum's ability to consistently deliver high quality software on schedule, which ultimately results in a lower total cost of software ownership due to less rework and easier maintenance.
