Bleum Inc., China's leading provider of offshore software development services, announced that RedPrairie Corporation, a U.S. headquartered, worldwide leader in global supply chain technology solutions, has engaged Bleum to set up and manage a 100 person offshore software development center (ODC) based in Shanghai, China. In addition to contracting with Bleum to manage the ODC, RedPrairie has also invested in Bleum in exchange for an equity stake and board seat. The announcement was made at Gartner Outsourcing Summit, the world's leading outsourcing conference being held in Las Vegas, Nev. May 17-19, where Bleum is participating as a conference sponsor.

With projected 2004 revenues of $130 million and 600 employees, RedPrairie has software development teams in the U.S. and Europe, with headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Bleum development team will serve as a dedicated extension to RedPrairie's product development teams supporting new product development, product modification, product maintenance and software test services. By providing continuous support, RedPrairie benefits from an offshore team that understands their business, organization, and technology, without the operating cost and distraction of managing the center themselves. The RedPrairie development center will be one of China's first and largest outsourced offshore development centers (ODCs). "As of today, a large number of development programs for multinational companies are being managed from India, however, it is increasingly hard to get access to quality services there due to limited capacity," said Eric Rongley, Bleum CEO. "China is in a position to pick up this shortfall due to its position as the world's largest university system for science and engineering."
