Shanghai 24th, October 2006, Bleum, one of China's leading providers of offshore software development services, announced today that its Shanghai development center has successfully been assessed ISO 27001 issued by BSI, a leading business services provider to organizations worldwide. Bleum is one of the first software outsourcing companies in Greater China to receive this internationally recognized security management system.           

This ISO 27001 certification demonstrates that a company practicing this security management system has adequate and appropriate security controls in place. The system adopts a process for establishing, implementing, operating, monitoring, reviewing, maintaining, and improving an organization's information assets.

China is increasingly a strategically important offshore outsourcing destination for many Fortune 1,000 companies but inhibitors to growth include concerns about IPR and capability, hence the importance of China based software outsourcing companies showing their strength in these areas.

Bleum was unique in that it established, designed, and implemented this security management system in-house without support from external consultants.  From start to assessment stage took 9 months, with two pre-trial visits from BSI auditors. On an ongoing basis, Bleum will receive two BSI visits per year.

According to analyst group, TPI, there are a number of key inhibitors to outsourcing to China including: security, capability and English level. Addressing these issues is critical for China based service providers if China is to realize its true potential as an outsourcing destination.
